2018 Programs
January 22: Silent Auction
Out with the old and in with the new – at least new to you! Sort through your sewing room, closets and drawers for fabric, notions, rulers, patterns, orphan blocks, books, etc., for our auction. This is a great way to pass along those quilting items you don’t use or want and make room to bring home some things you do want! Money raised supports the guild.
Bids start at $1, and increase in $1 increments, no cents! Bundle items so bids can start at $1.
Print out your bid sheets and fill in a starting bid for each item before the meeting.
February 19: Deb Johnson – “Journey as a Quilter: Trying to fit a square peg into a round hole and other life’s lessons learned along the way……. (Never say never in quilting!)”
I started out in 1988, wanting to be a traditional quilter. I loved antique quilts especially of the civil war era and was a little too uppity in my convictions about color and form. I was never going to hand piece, do applique, do hexies, or anything abstract or modern.
Life has a way of picking us up and shaking us out and several years ago, my eyes and soul were opened to an entire new path with my quilting that has me filled with excitement and showed me where I was always meant to be! Take the journey with me through the quilts in my trunk show and see if you can guess the clues from my quilts as to the path I would finally discover was my own! But note: I still DON’T do hexies! 😉

August 20: Shannon Shirley – “An Eclectic Mix”
Shannon Shirley, fiber artist, instructor, and author will present an eclectic trunk show that includes quilts inspired by children’s artwork, quilts incorporating vintage needlework, art quilts, and traditional quilts.
I will share with you my quilts since 1989 and some of the lessons I have learned along the way. I started as a mainly self -taught traditional quilter, machine piecer and hand lap quilter. Over the years I started taking technique classes to understand how quilters were creating the wonderful art quilts I was seeing at shows. I have always been eclectic in other areas of my life and quilting is no different. I now use any technique from my toolbox to achieve the end result…a beautiful unique quilt.
